2024 ACOBAWC – USA Members’ Scholarships
On September 26, 2024, the beautiful Kularatne Hall set the stage for a truly memorable event. Under the esteemed patronage of Mr. Lal Dissanayake, Principal of Ananda College, we celebrated the award ceremony with great enthusiasm. Our Chief Guest, Colonel Lucky Rajasinghe (Retd), the former chairman and president of ACOBA West Coast, USA, was honored, reflecting the school’s deep appreciation for the valuable scholarship program initiated by ACOBAWC.
The ceremony brought together a wonderful gathering of dignitaries from the college, members of the Old Boys’ Association, and dedicated teaching staff. With over 700 students and parents present, the atmosphere was electric with excitement.
This rewarding event was organized in Sri Lanka by our amazing partner organization, the Old Anandians 85 Group, led by the passionate Upendra Kannangara and Sumedha Perera. It truly exemplified the spirit of community and support!
The organization led by President Dilash and Executive Committee of ACOBA West Coast, with approval from the Board of Directors, decided to award:
36 x Merit-based member scholarships. (These are in addition to 24 x Dr. Sri Welaratna scholarship awards – https://www.acobawcusa.org/2024-sri-welaratna-scholarship-recipients/)
11 x Need-based scholarships
3 x GCE (Ordinary Level) Merit Scholarships
President Dilash, Executive Committee, Chairman Shantha and the Board of Directors of ACOBA West Coast, USA, wholeheartedly express their profound appreciation to all our generous donors.
We are excited to share that one outstanding student, who has benefited from our scholarship program over multiple years, achieved remarkable success in the GCE (Advanced Level) Examination, securing the highest marks! Additionally, two other scholarship recipients proudly placed among the top ten students.
We’re thrilled to announce that Ananda College has reclaimed its position as the leading high school with the most students entering university after several years.
A heartfelt shoutout to Squadron Leader Rahim Mantara, our exceptionally dedicated and hardworking chairman of the scholarships committee. His unwavering commitment and meticulous attention to detail in tabulating the results have been invaluable. Moreover, his proactive approach in following up has ensured that the entire scholarship process runs smoothly and efficiently, reflecting his deep passion for supporting our aspiring scholars.
