2024 – Dr. Sri Welaratna Scholarship Recipients

In 2024, twenty-four merit-based annual scholarships, each valued at Rs. 60,000, were offered under the Dr. Sri Welaratna Scholarship Scheme. One student, who has been a multi-year recipient of this scholarship scheme, excelled in the GCE (Advanced Level) Examination by achieving the highest marks in the examination. Additionally, two other recipients were ranked among the top ten students. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sri Welaratna for his support.

The Sri Welaratna Scholarships awards ceremony, organized by the Ananda College Old Boys Association (ACOBA) West Coast, USA, in partnership with the Old Anandians 85 Group, was successfully conducted for the seventh time on September 26, 2024, at the Olcott Memorial Hall of Ananda College.

The ceremony featured Mr. D. M. Lal Dissanayake, the principal of the college, as the chief guest, while Colonel Lucky Rajasinghe (Rtd) WWV RWP RSP USP, the Past President of ACOBA West Coast, USA, was honored as the guest of honor. Mr. Upendra Kannangara, President of the 85 Group, warmly welcomed all attendees.

We sincerely appreciate our Sri Lankan partner organization, the Old Anandians 85 Group, led by Sumedha Perera, for obtaining certified results through the principal of Ananda College, conducting data checks, opening bank accounts for the students, and organizing the award ceremony.
