PICNIC 2014

ACOBA-WC, USA Annual Picnic, September 27, 2014

On September 27th, 2014, the members of ACOBA-WC and their families gathered for a delightful potluck picnic at the picturesque Irvine Regional Park in California. The event was a remarkable success, drawing approximately 90 enthusiastic participants who came together to celebrate a beautiful day outdoors. Event was organized under the leadership of Brigadier Ganesh Perusinghe (Rtd).

As attendees arrived, they were warmly welcomed with steaming cups of aromatic tea, setting a cordial and inviting atmosphere right from the start. The day was filled with laughter and camaraderie, as families and friends mingled, sharing stories and making new memories.

One of the most exhilarating highlights was the spirited cricket match that took place on the sun-kissed grass, showcasing the competitive yet friendly nature of the participants. Alongside the match, a delectable assortment of appetizers was presented, featuring not only the beloved manioc but also a variety of other cultural delicacies that added to the rich tapestry of flavors available.

The centerpiece of the day was undoubtedly the sumptuous lunch spread. Attendees were treated to an array of delicious dishes, perfectly complemented by a joyful sing-along led by our talented musicians: Chaminda and Preethisha Walpola, Supun, and Lasika Senviratne. Their musical performance infused the event with energy and excitement, encouraging many attendees to join in and share their own musical talents, further enriching the festive ambiance.

As the sun began to set, signaling the close of a wonderful day, participants were served refreshing milk tea alongside an enticing selection of cakes, which provided a sweet and satisfying conclusion to the festivities. This gathering served as a fantastic opportunity for members and their families to bond, connect, and strengthen their community ties, making it a truly unforgettable experience for all involved.
