FUNDRAISER DINNER 2013
The inaugural fundraiser dinner for ACOBA West Coast took place on February 2, 2013, at the prestigious Castaway Banquet Hall, nestled at 1250 East Harvard Road in Burbank, California. This grand event commenced at 7:00 PM and continued until the early hours of 2:00 AM, welcoming an impressive 425 guests, all elegantly dressed in formal attire.
The evening unfolded with meticulous planning and attention to detail, featuring the captivating guest artist Sohan Weerasinghe. He was accompanied by the extraordinary band Anokia, led by the talented Dr. Lasika Seneviratne, while musical interludes were gracefully provided by the accomplished Shervin Jaya, creating a dynamic and engaging atmosphere throughout the night.
Setting a benchmark for future formal gatherings within the Sri Lankan community in Southern California, the event began with a warm welcome from a dedicated team of hosts. Guests smoothly transitioned through the check-in process before entering the enchanting Starlight Reception Hall. Here, an open bar was complemented by an array of delectable hors d’oeuvres, all served against a backdrop of soft music that mingled with laughter and conversation. The breathtaking view of the Hollywood city lights illuminated the night, adding a touch of magic to the winter evening.
At 7:30 PM, guests were gracefully ushered into the main dining area, Verdugo Hall. Upon entering, they were met with an exquisite setting, featuring a sophisticated color palette of deep maroon and rich gold in the table linens, harmoniously paired with luminous floral centerpieces that glittered under the softly diffused ambient lighting. The overall ambiance created an inviting and luxurious space, perfect for an unforgettable evening of connection and celebration.
